Sir William is the present Chief of Clan Macpherson. He succeeded his father as the 27th Chief in 1969. The photograph was taken at Ionia, Michigan during his first visit to the United States in 1978. The occasion was to attend the fifth annual gathering of the Unted States Branch of CMA.
On earlier and subsequent occasions Sir William has visited branch Clan gatherings in Australia, England and Wales, New Zealand, South Africa and Scotland. He has returned to the US for the branch gathering many times since.
