This pen-and-ink sketch was created by Jean Noble, the Newtonmore artist who was responsible for designing and implementing the 1985 makeover of the Museum. This action was taken in response to the study prepared by Hugh Cheape of the National Museum of Scotland who recommended that the Museum be redesigned to tell the story of the Clan Macpherson. Before that major change was undertaken the Museum collection was exhibited with little or no measures to explain the significance of the items on display.
The drawing is one of several that Mrs Noble created to illustrate the Macpherson Story and break the monotony of explanatory text. Her work for the Association was accomplished on an extremely frugal budget and was the inspiration for the Museum's present manifestation. Panel 110A items g, h and i illustrate the magnitude of this change.
