MEDALS AWARDED TO LT COL ARCHIBALD FRASER MACPHERSON


Archibald Fraser Macpherson was the 3rd son of Duncan of the Kiln, born 13th December 1807. He served with the 43rd Light Infantry Regiment of the Madras Army in India. He was a Brevet Captain when these medals were awarded and later became a Lieutenant Colonel in the Madras Army. He died unmarried 25th May 1877.

The medals are --
     Candahar Ghuznee Cabul, 1842 Medal. It was awarded during the Afghanistan Campaign of 1841-1842.

      Gwalior Campaign Star (Maharajpoor), 1843. It was awarded by the Honourable East India Company to those who participated in the battle on 29th December 1843. Maharajpoor is in the north of modern India.
