Transcript of the letter from Florence Nightingale to the Surgeon General

Scutari Barracks Hospital March 11/56

My dear Sirs,

I hasten to acknowledge the receipt of your two letters of Feb 27 & March 1, both of which I received this day.

The Kertch [sic] post is very irregular.

I am sorry that you have not received my acknowledgement of Capt John Fisher's first £5, which I transmitted home the same day & which I acknowledged to yourself twice.

I have now received his second £5, & transmitted it home in like manner.

I assure you that I require no assurance as to your judicious distribution of any stores I may have sent you, & if you require more, pray command me --

I am going up to Balaclava tomorrow for a short time to our Hospital there.

I remain, my dear sir,

Yours very faithfully
F Nightingale
