Pte. A. Macpherson, 4308 served with the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders. In the Charge at Dargai, 20 October 1898, Pte Macpherson was listed as dangerously wounded. He appears to have recovered and took part in the South African War, 1899-1902, in the same battalion. His service medals are (l-r):
