SPORRAN AWARDED TO ANGUS MACPHERSON, PIPER TO 'OLD CLUNY'

 

 

The sporran was won by Angus Macpherson (1800-1887). He was piper to 'Old Cluny' and father of Calum Piobair who succeeded him in that role. The sporran is inscribed :

"Presented at the Northern Meeting

To

Angus Macpherson

For the Second Best Performance
Of Strathspeys and Marches
on the Great Highland Bagpipes"

 

The Northern Meeting is a piping competition held annually at Inverness.
