Angus was Piper to Macpherson of Glentruim and accompanied him to Paris after the Franco-Prussian War. During his time at Glentruim his son, John was tutored on the pipes at Cat Lodge by Calum Piobair. It is interesting to note a practice wherein the fathers of budding piper sons awarded their instruction to other pipers. This tradition was again the case for Angus Macpherson who had John MacDonald tutor his son, Malcolm.
