Catherine was born in Edinburgh and has been a strong supporter of the Clan Macpherson since her marriage to Sandy Macpherson in 1962. In addition to her Clan duties Catherine has many and varied interests that have included running her own private catering company, acting as a guide for the National Trust for Scotland and being an inspector for Taste of Scotland.

      Catherine also leads a busy family life with her children and grandchildren.
