2003 Society of Electroanalytical Chemistry Charles N. Reilly Young Investigator Award. Global award made annually, Julie was the first winner from outside the USA.

1999 Young Electrochemical Scanned Probe Microscopist. Global award made annually by Molecular Imaging to a young person who has made the most notable contribution in scanning probe microscopy.

Her home town is Earlsdon, Coventry and her work is conducted at Warwick University.
