The Tartan Pimpernel in Tartan

After the War Rev. Caskie returned to Paris and helped raise funds to restore the Scots Kirk there. In 1960, with that work accomplished, he accepted the call from a parish in Scotland where he served until he retired in 1968.

The photograph shows Rev. Donald Caskie splendidly attired in a Macpherson Red tartan kilt and Prince Charlie jacket with a jabot neckpiece. He was a familar figure in Macperson social events and elsewhere until early 1983. At that time, poor health lead him to Greenock where a younger brother, Neil, cared for him until his death in December 1983. His earthly remains were returned to Islay and interred with his parents at Bowmore. The place is marked by the Celtic cross shown in item m.
