Donald Currie Caskie associated himself with the Clan Macpherson through his mother's maiden name of Currie. There are two separate and distinct families of Currie: one associated with the Clan Macpherson and the other descended from Muireach Albanach, the O'Daly poet whose descendants included the bardic MacVurichs of Clanranald. From our limited knowledge of his mother, Margaret Currie, it would appear that she was most likely of Clanranald descent. However, Donald Currie considered himself to be an adherent of the Clan Macpherson, wore a Macpherson tartan kilt and was an active member of the East of Scotland Branch of the Clan Macpherson Association.
