The principal charge is the Gillespie "three-masted galley" placed above a "Green Pearl" which represents the old fishing village of Riccione, known as the "Green Pearl" of the Adriatic, and now the armiger's home. The hand holding the "lightning bolts" commemorates Mr Gillespie's wartime service as a RAF signaller in the Desert Air Force.
Motto: A reflection of the ex-patriot's wish that his descendants not forget their Highland origin.
